Happy New Year everyone! Hope it was a good one!
I had to work the day before and after Christmas so our main holiday trip was for New Years. We had an awesome time in Utah visiting my family. We went on a hike, went snowmobiling, and ate all sorts of deliciousness. I even went shopping...Eastern Idaho is not known for glorious shopping malls, so I was bound and determined to go during our trip (not that Utah has glorious malls but the ones there are a far cry better than the ones in good ol' Idaho). We went, and I was quickly brought to my senses and reminded that I am too stingy to love shopping. Oh well. It was good to get it out of my system.
I have good news: I got a new camera! We bought it during Black Friday from Target (don't worry, I purchased it safely in my living room through the internet). I am completely in love with it. And completely NOT a pro at using it. But I am loving learning how to use it! If any of you guys have any photography sites you enjoy (blogs or how-to sites), let me know! I am bound and determined to get good at this picture taking thing!
Anyhow, with the New Year comes goals. At least with my New Year (I'm kind of a freak). And I swear to you that every year since I've been married, I've had the goal, "Make more seasonal crafts" or "make more décor items." Most of the time I fail at this. I make things on whims and start seasonal crafts waaaaaay too late to actually finish them in time for the holiday.
But when I do get around to being crafty, I can make some decent stuff. So this project is for all of you who have made goals to get into your crafty side. This project was surprisingly easy, and mostly just required that I get the correct materials. Check it out:

Eh? Eh?
I'd be lying if I said I didn't love it. Cause I do. I love it.
I'm a total slacker and I did NOT take pictures of the process. Sometimes I take pictures of the process and then the project turns out like crap and I think, "Why the heck did I put so much effort into taking these lousy pictures????"
So I didn't take pictures of this project. So as not to jinx myself, you know?
And, what do you know? It worked!

Just so you know, I didn't take these pictures with my new camera. I made this like clear back in October, before that awesome thing had graced our family ;)
The shot above was just to give you guys a better idea of the details.
I decided to make this picture board after seeing something similar at Real Dealz. Have you guys ever been to that store? It is a wonderful and awful place all at the same time. It has the cutest things but it makes you want to buy EVERYTHING.
But as I mentioned above, I am stingy so even the cute décor cannot make me crack. Anyway. They had this cute board and it was like 50 bucks. And of course a crafty and thrifty person like myself would think "I can make that for way cheaper!"
So I did.
I found an old board at D.I. for $2. And then I scoured all the craft shops that this teensy town has to offer, trying to find bead board (the white parts). And I could not find it anywhere. So...I have a teeny bit of a confession...I ended up buy an entire 8 foot by 4 foot sheet of the stuff. Yes. I know. I'm an idiot. Buuuuut Ben has been really getting into wood work so I justified that he'd use it up...eventually. And he has (well..some of it). And then the cute little clips where just a couple dollars for a dozen or so. I took the easy way out by painting everything and then hot gluing it like no other.
It was completed in a couple of hours on one of my Saturdays off.
Easy Peezy.
Yep. I just said that.

If any of you guys want to do this project and need some bead board, you know where to find me. I may or may not have bought too much...
