Let me give you a little run down.
Bountiful Baskets is a way to buy produce for cheap. It's a Co-op, which, as far as I understand it, means that a group of people pool their money, buy produce in bulk to get a better deal, and then divide the goods, so everyone gets some. It's not a business so nobody is making money. It's run by volunteers and it's main purpose is to have families eat healthy for cheap.
Not too shabby, am I right?
Anyhow, when I heard about it in Cedar, it didn't make much sense to me to buy all that produce for one lonely me. But now that I'm in charge of Ben's health, as well as my own AND we try to save money where we can, we figured we'd give Bountiful Baskets a try.
And I'm here to tell you, that we weren't disappointed.
So, how it works, is you pay $15 dollars online, the Monday before you're scheduled to pick up your produce (on Saturday).
On Saturday morning, you head to the site you specified, (they've got sites all over the U.S.), show them your receipt and pick up your box. Our box looked like this:

I mean, I'm a carrots and apples kinda gal. And it's not that those are my favorites. It's that they're the cheapest, so it's what I buy. So lots of the times I miss out on trying something new and different.

But really, I'm excited to have a change in produce. And I'm excited to have so much produce. My brain is already cooking up (no pun intended) ideas of recipes to use with all these fun fruits and veggies!
I just wanted to share this discovery with you all, so that you could give it a try too. Head on over to the Bountiful Basket website to see if there is a site location in your area. Let me know if you try it out and what you think!
